JMCAACC's Follow Me Into Business® program makes a difference in the development of young people in Jackson, Tennessee. Since 2002, we have served nearly 500 youth in our job readiness and summer jobs programs. No parent pays for their child's participation. The Follow Me Into Business program is free and designed for ages 12-18.
The 12-15 year-olds learn valuable skills as well as poise and self-confidence. They gain hands-on knowledge of the business world through guest speakers, roleplay, mentoring, shadowing and experience the real world through site visits to businesses and on city tours. These 25-50 kids receive a $35 cash stipend for their participation in the 8-week summer program.
The 16-18 year-olds are provided with up to 80 hours of paid employment at minimum wage during the month of July. This program costs $5,000 for every 10 students.
